Construction of one of the CIDECO houses in Mexico City

During the 1985 earthquake that shook Mexico City, thousands of people lost their loved ones and homes. For more than eight months, young men and women from the Anáhuac University, including the administration staff, professors, alumni, and parents, united together to support the afflicted.

The Anáhuac Social Foundation, founded by the Anáhuac community, has assisted many families affected by the tragic incident through the establishment of the Integral Center of Community Development, better known as CIDECO. Construction of CIDECO began on a spacious plot of land in the town of Lerma, Mexico in March 1987.

Today CIDECO consists of 200 houses providing homes to 1,200 people and forming an exemplary community that works constantly for better living conditions. The Anáhuac Community thought it crucial to build a school and clinic for CIDECO children right from the very beginning.
