Rome, September 26, 2005. On the Feast of the Birth
of the Blessed Virgin Mary, September 8, the Holy See,
through the Congregation for Catholic Education, granted the Legion of Christ the decree approving the Statutes of the
Maria Mater Ecclesiae Center for Priests in Rome. They likewise
issued a decree naming Fr. Javier García, L.C. as rector.
So
that priests can more easily dedicate themselves to their studies
and effectively learn the methods of evangelization and apostolate, the
Second Vatican Council recommended “the setting up of centers designed
for pastoral studies” (Presbyterorum Ordinis, 19).
