On February 12th, a group of 35 missionaries had the
experience of shearing their faith with most needed people. The
mission was in the Parish of Sta. Perpetua, in Barangay
San Jose, one of the poorest squatters in Manila. In
the morning they visited the houses of the Barangay, spent
some time with each family reading the gospel and praying
with them. It was a beautiful experience because the missionaries
realized that they didn’t have to go out of Manila
to find people who need someone to take them closer
to God.
In the afternoon the YTM missionaries played different games
with around 200 kids, followed by the catechism. The missionaries
prepared a skit from a passage of the Gospel, gave
an explanation after and had a question and answer session.
Later
they had the “merienda” that consisted in giving some snacks
to the kids who were very happy and enjoying this
day with the missionaries.
YTM also gave contributed for the Parochial
feeding program for children under 2 years old, offering the
amount correspondent to a complete week of breakfast for 50
children.
To close the activity was the Holy Mass preceded
by the parish priest Father Bong, who supported and encouraged
the missionaries to continue working for the church.
