Bratislava,
May 18, 2007 Regnum Christi members here in the
capital of Slovakia raised thousands of pounds of food for
the needy during a weekend event entitled “Aczia Kilo” (Action
Kilo). The food drive encourages people to contribute a kilogram
of food for the poor. Regnum Christi adults organized the Flame Club
for Girls and DAV Boys Club in ten supermarkets, where
they sought donations from shoppers. The groups collected 1,200 kilos
– more than 3,000 pounds – for the poor. Much
of it was contributed to the Missionaries of Charity, the
sisters founded by Mother Teresa, who have a significant presence
serving the needy in Bratislava. | |
