| Leanne Cassandra, student athlete of the year | |

Atlanta, GA, June 11, 2007. – Pinecrest Academy’s Leanne Cassandra
was featured in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in the Northside section
as a student athlete of the year. Cassandra was a
basketball, volleyball and soccer player at Pinecrest Academy and was
a member of the first graduating class.
She graduated with
a 3.9 GPA and scored a 1960 on the SAT.
She plans to attend Belmont Abbey University in North Carolina
and pursue a degree in liberal arts.
When asked about
her favorite sports memory, she talked about advancing as a
senior to the GISA state volleyball championship match.
“Even state
runner-up was a huge achievement for our third year program,”
she said.
When asked about her favorite scholastic memory, she spoke
of her participation in the senior service trip to Jamaica.
“We spent the first four days ... painting at an
orphanage, reading to and playing with the children there, rebuilding
and resodding a playground, building fences and landscaping,” she said.
“The group ended the trip with two days of beach
fun at Montego Bay.”
