Pope Benedict XVI has invited the
youth of the world to accompany him during the next
World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia from July 14 –
21, 2008. The theme is “You will receive power when
the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be
my witnesses” (Acts 1:8).
As a pilgrimage of faith and a
celebration of solidarity between the Pope and the youth, the
World Youth Day is an encounter with Christ himself, who
seeks out the youth to tell them, “Come, follow me!
I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
Over half
a million youth will be there to respond to his
invitation.
In the heart of the action, the Regnum Christi
Movement is organizing the following international conventions and missions. (Check the
web site www.worldyouthday.org for more information.)
- International convention for young men (July 7-21)
- International convention for young women (July
7-21)
- International missions for young men and young women (July
7-21)
- International ECYD boys convention (July 12-24)
All participants will take
full part in the official World Youth Day program
of events.
There is also a “Post WYD Adventure”
of friendship and fun (Australia-style) for the days immediately following
the World Youth Day, July 21-24.
