Gateway Academy Students

April 17, 2008. St. Louis, Missouri. A team of Gateway Academy students competing in the St. Louis Archdiocesan “Know Your Faith Challenge” won first place in an archdiocesan competition with 200 other 7th grade Catholic school students. 

Their prize: to see the Pope this weekend in New York. Their message for him is simple: "We love you!"

Earning the Privilege

Gateway Academy’s team studied for months in preparation for the contest, a trivia style competition based on 100 challenging questions on the Old and New Testaments, the Catechism, the saints, and vocations.

At the end of the contest, Archbishop Raymond Burke announced the first prize winners: a team of 4 girls and 4 boys, all 7th graders from Gateway Academy. Their prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to see Pope Benedict XVI when he visits New York in April.

The students of Gateway Academy are proud not only of their team, but also of their school. “It’s like, wow, this is cool… Gateway won this?” says one 7th grade boy in the video. “Wow, we’re smart.”

Gateway Academy is a private Catholic school that uses the Integral Formation SM method of education developed by the Legion of Christ.
