Since the 1980s, young Australian men and women discerning a
vocation have joined the Legion of Christ and the consecrated
life in Regnum Christi. The Regnum Christi Movement is also
beginning to grow throughout the major cities. Its members are
involved in apostolates such as Catholic Kids Net (Kids for
Jesus), Challenge, ConQuest, and Youth for the Third Millennium. Recently,
an increasing number of young men and women have committed
one or more years of their life to serving the
Church as volunteers in the Regnum Christi Coworker Program.
In
2008, Australia hosted the 21st World Youth Day in Sydney.
The Regnum Christi apostolate vocation.com organized a vocation cafe on
a boat that was part of the papal boatacade in
the Sydney harbor for Pope Benedict´s official arrival. Hundreds of
pilgrims also enjoyed evening cruises on the floating vocation.com cafe,
complete with Catholic musical acts and Legionary priests available for
spiritual direction and confession.
