Catholic.net Invites Catholic Educators to Online Think
U. S. A. | APOSTOLATE | ON THE MEDIA
Catholic.net joins the Holy Father’s appeal for Catholic educators to witness to Christ.

logotipo Catholic net

New Haven, CT. JULY 23, 2008. Catholic.net has recently invited educators, students, and parents to share their thoughts on the nature and identity of Catholic education in an online forum

The goal is to help educators focus their attention on the importance of their witness to Christ within Catholic schools and universities, as requested by the Holy Father.

In his recent address to Catholic educators during his visit to the US, Pope Benedict XVI stated: “Teachers and administrators, whether in universities or schools, have the duty and privilege to ensure that students receive instruction in Catholic doctrine and practice. This requires that public witness to the way of Christ, as found in the Gospel and upheld by the Church´s Magisterium, shapes all aspects of an institution’s life, both inside and outside the classroom.” He further affirmed, “Divergence from this vision weakens Catholic identity and, far from advancing freedom, inevitably leads to confusion, whether moral, intellectual or spiritual.”

Catholic.net aims to serve Catholic educators by fostering reflection on questions posed by our Holy Father, such as: As educators, do we accept the truth Christ reveals? Is the faith tangible in our universities and schools? Is it given fervent expression liturgically, sacramentally, through prayer, acts of charity, a concern for justice, and respect for God’s creation?
