Rome, Italy. The World Meeting of Families, held in Mexico
City from January 13-18, 2009, was a significant moment
for the universal Church to reflect on the crucial importance
of protecting family life and family values on a worldwide
scale. After the international congress, Cardinal Ennio Anotelli, the President
of the Pontifical Council for the Family, wrote the following
letter thanking Father Alvaro for the Legionaries’ support and participation.
PONTIFICIUM CONSILIUM PRO FAMILIA
Prot. 2009/0110-II18
Vatican City, February
19, 2009
Most Reverend Father:
Upon returning from Mexico City, I
feel the duty and the honor of expressing my gratitude
for the valuable collaboration of the Legionaries of Christ in
the VI World Meeting of Families.
We greatly appreciated the
work that Father Cipriano Sánchez García, LC, did in coordination
with the Commission for the Pastoral Theological Congress.
I also
thank you for the help that your religious gave us
for translations, and especially for the immeasurable service of the
sacrament of reconciliation.
I cannot fail to mention the effective commitment
of so many people belonging to the Regnum Christi Movement,
who with a genuine love for the Church, worked together
with other members of the Church to help the Meeting
be a success.
Hoping to continue receiving your support on future
occasions, I offer you my sentiments of consideration and esteem.
Cardinal
Ennio Anotelli
President
