More than 100 young people participated in a number of
courses that enabled them to have a greater understanding of
the Internet in order to bring technology closer to the
poor and marginalized.
Women from rural areas, those who are retired
and the disabled, among others, will be able to surf
the Internet thanks to this initiative.
Spain’s Minister of Science and
Technology, Ana Birules, attended the inauguration and emphasized the importance
of this initiative that the volunteers are undertaking bringing the
Internet and the knowledge of computers to a great number
of people who would otherwise be deprived of such knowledge
and experience. In this way, all Spaniards will be able
to use the Internet, one of the great tools of
the 21st century.
This first Cyber-volunteer Encounter is part of campaign
titled Campus IPT Internet for everyone, led by Borja Adsuara
Varela, the general director for the development of society and
information.
