May 23, 2009. “A true leader is one who leaves
the mark of Christ wherever they go. But in order
to leave your mark, you must live your mark!”
Hence
the theme of this year’s International ECYD Convention: “Live Your Mark: Looking Beautiful, Leadership, and Love.”
Based at
the Queen of the Family Retreat Center in Oxford,
Michigan from June 30 to July 11, 2009, this year’s
international ECYD convention aims to teach girls ages 14-16 (upcoming
3rd and 4th stage ECYD members) the positive leadership skills
that will last them for a lifetime.
The girls will have
the chance to learn from Pure Fashion’s Brenda Sharman,
who will be a guest speaker at the convention. There
will be special tracks for team leader training, for girls
who are currently or who may one day be team
leaders for other ECYD girls.
There will be daily Mass
and prayer, opportunities for confession, and talks and activities to
help girls grow in their spiritual life.
And of course, there
will be exciting outings to fun destinations like Niagara Falls,
Cedar Point Amusement Park, and the shopping mall – not
to mention the enriching experience of forming friendships with girls
from other cultures who share the same faith, ideals, and
sense of mission.
