November 17, 2009. Summerside, Prince Edward Island. From November 6 – 8, about 90 Regnum Christi members from Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick gathered at St Paul’s parish in Summerside, PEI for a weekend family convention on the topic of “Regnum Christi: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.”

Fr Daniel Brandenburg, assistant to the Territorial Director for the Apostolate, Fr John Gannon, LCA for Eastern Canada, and PE Islander Fr Todd Arsenault were the Legionaries present for the event. The emcee for the event was men’s section director, Ray Arsenault.

for approximately 20-25 women preached by Fr John Gannon LC and a Challenge girls retreat for 15-20 girls.

Saturday dawned bright and early with the men from the convention participating in a parish men’s program “That man is you!” with 50 men on hand.

Following the parish Mass at 9 AM, the Legionary priests gave their conferences on different aspects of the Regnum Christi spirituality and mission throughout the day.

After the holy hour and dinner, special guest Dr John O’Brien, section assistant of the Syracuse, NY, men’s Regnum Christi section, gave his personal testimony.

was a Conquest retreat with 10 boys and a K4J activity for approximately 20 children. Confession and spiritual direction was offered by the priests on hand throughout the event.

To close the weekend activities on Sunday morning before Sunday Mass, there was a panel discussion with five Regnum Christi members directed by Don Chevarie, whose son Dominic attends the apostolic school in Cornwall, Ontario. The discussion was centered on their experience of the Regnum Christi Movement. Finally, after Mass all the families made their way to the Loyalist Inn Buffet for a hearty lunch together.

It was a graced-filled and very timely event that left all participants with much hope and joy. The desire is to have this family gathering each year at a time when snowstorms are not an issue.
