The online course begins on April 7.

March 17, 2010. Sacramento, CA. Physical distance is no obstacle to learning, now that online courses are becoming more common and convenient. For those who have an interest in the intersection of faith, reason, and science, the University of Sacramento is offering a four-session online course (only $75) on "Faith, Physics, and Philosophy."

As a “reflective, non-technical study of the relationship between faith and reason, religion and science,” the course will cover topics such as:
• The complementary nature of faith and science
• “Scientism” and the pitfalls of excluding the possibility of religion
• “Fideism” and the dangers of refusing to accept authentic science
• The current “origin of life” debate and how science is pushing the envelope in ethics

The course will include readings, lectures, and some online discussion. Students will be able to participate actively in the class via the online technology.

The instructor of the course is Fr Robert Presutti, LC, PhD, the President of the University of Sacramento. He earned his doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome, with a specialization in analytical philosophy.

The course will be offered this upcoming April 7, 14, 21, and 28, on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. The cost is $75. View the flyer here.
