| The Little Jesus Campaign has been bringing gifts to little children since 1993. | |

Los Angeles, CA. February 16, 2011. Following the example of
the Three Magi, over 950 Hombre Nuevo radio listeners and
members of the Hombre Nuevo and Guadalupe Radio apostolates traveled
south of the border this past January 9 to give
out gifts to over 5,000 needy children in 62 of
the communities and parishes in Tijuana, Mexicali, Rosarito, Ensenada, and
San Quintín.
The Little Jesus Campaign, which began in 1993,
has involved thousands of people who have put Jesus’ words
“Whatever you do to the least of my brethren, you
do to me” (Mt. 25:40) into action.
The campaign began
two months ahead of time with meetings and the organization
of toy, clothing, and food drives, as well as volunteers
to drive 950 “Magi” from Los Angeles to Mexico to

distribute the gifts.
The campaign’s success is thanks to the generous
support of hundreds of radio listeners and the efforts of
the volunteers who spent a week separating, organizing, and packing
all of the gifts.
The Magi day began with Sunday Mass
at 6:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr Mariano de Blas, LC
and concelebrated by Fr Juan Rivas, LC in the Hombre
Nuevo facilities in El Monte, CA. The two priests accompanied
the caravan of volunteers, who filled over 450 cars.
In
total, the following gifts were collected and distributed:
- 18,662 toys
- 11,300 blankets
- 3,616 toiletries
- 1,356 bags of new clothes
- 1,200
brochures on the faith and the Gospel
