Fr Pedro Barrajón, LC

Rome, March 22, 2011. This past February 14, Fr Pedro Barrajón, LC, rector of the Pontifical Regina Apostolorum College, was appointed a member of the Pontifical Academy of Theology. His nomination was communicated by the current president, Professor Don Manilo Sodi: “Your appointment is a recognition for all that you have done in the field of theology, and an invitation to participate in the various initiatives that the Academy—founded in 1695—aims to bring about with symposiums, international forums, and the publications of PATH magazine and the ITINERARIA collection.”

The Pontifical Academy of Theology was founded in 1695 in Rome. Clement XI instituted it canonically as a headquarters for study at the start of the 18th century. Recognizing its fruits in the subject area of theology, Clement XIV supported it and encouraged its development. Gregory XVI approved its specific statutes in 1838, and John Paul II renewed them in 1999, infusing them

The Pontifical Academy of Theology, whose headquarters is in Vatican City, has the mission of promoting dialogue between faith and reason, as well as a deeper understanding of Church doctrine. The encyclical Fides et Ratio (On Faith and Reason) by John Paul II proposed a work program that the Academy aims to continue fulfilling.
