March 25, 2011. Anaheim, CA. For the second consecutive year,
Hombre Nuevo and Guadalupe Radio were invited to
participate in the Religious Education Congress 2011 organized by the
archdiocese of Los Angeles at the Anaheim Convention Center. The
congress, held from March 18-20 and organized around the theme:
“Hold firm… Trust!” is the largest gathering of its kind
worldwide.
It is estimated that over 50,000 people attended this event,
which is sponsored by the archdiocese’s Office of Religious Education.
In addition to the lineup of speakers, there were also
over 280 exhibitors with booths representing a wide range of
ministries and apostolates. Guadalupe Radio and Hombre Nuevo were among
the programs exhibited there.
In addition, Guadalupe Radio transmitted the event
live from the Anaheim Convention Center, interviewing the new archbishop
of Los Angeles, José Gómez and also Cardinal Roger Mahony.
Both expressed their appreciation for the work that Guadalupe Radio
is doing in southern California. “Guadalupe Radio is a great
blessing for this archdiocese,” Archbishop Gómez said.
Guadalupe Radio also
interviewed Catholic singers Sister Glenda and Rafael Moreno, and some
of the conference speakers invited the radio listeners to make
the most of the opportunity to get to know their

faith better through the event.
In the exhibit hall, the Hombre
Nuevo booth offered catechetical material from the past 25 years,
including CDs, DVDs, and books that catechists and Hispanic ministry
leaders have found very useful for evangelization. For the volunteers
running the live transmission through Guadalupe Radio, manning the booth,
or attending the talks, the Religious Education Congress was one
more opportunity to put both apostolates at the service of
the archdiocese.
