Thornwood, NY, March 28, 2011 – Father John Bartunek LC
will join forces with Hollywood producer Steve McEveety, executive producer
of the movie “The Passion of the Christ,” during the
2011 Holy Week. View the flyer here.
The two
will give a presentation about the production of the film,
including never-before-revealed secrets, commentary on some of the most memorable
scenes and their own personal testimony on their experience.
The
special two-hour presentation, sponsored by the Legionaries of Christ, will
be held on Saturday, April 16 beginning at 4:00 pm
at Our Lady of Thornwood Conference Center, 528 Columbus Avenue,
Thornwood, NY, 10594. The presentation will open with the Legionaries
of Christ Choir singing two sacred polyphonies from the Holy
Week liturgy. Fr. John and Mr. McEveety, who was also
executive producer for such films as “Braveheart” and “We Were
Soldiers,” will comment on clips from the movie and afterwards
answer questions from members of the audience. After the presentation,
there will be refreshments, a book signing and the opportunity
to meet Mr. McEveety and Fr. John, followed by a
showing of the “The Passion of the Christ” in its
entirety.

the movie production. He will sign his best-seller, Inside the
Passion, the only authorized behind-the-scenes book about the film, which
he wrote from research and notes while serving on the
set. He has written several other books and has served
as a contributor of news commentary on religious issues for
CNN, FOX and the BBC.
“We are offering this presentation and
showing of the film to provide a unique opportunity for
reflection and preparation for a deeper encounter with Christ during
Easter,” said Father Thomas Vendetti, LC, director of communications for
the Our Lady of Thornwood Conference Center. “There is interest
at this time of year in ‘The Passion of the
Christ,’ ever since this powerfully graphic depiction of the suffering,
death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ debuted on the Big
Screen in 2004.”
Residents throughout the tri-state area are invited
to attend. The event is free of charge. You must
register in advance. Contact Anne Holweck at (914) 495-9203 via
