Dallas, Texas -- The Regnum Christ team members and consecrated
women in Dallas decided to break out of their routine
in March, 2011. On March 19, the feast of St.
Joseph, they organized a mission for the needy in cooperation
with several other religious communities in their area.
“It was a
great way to bond, to step into the shoes of
those needier than us for a day, and to get
a fresh perspective on our own apostolate,” said consecrated woman
Alexandra Hochhaus.
Wearing their Mission Youth sweatshirts, the RC women organized
and worked several charitable activities, including cleaning a local home
for unwed mothers run by the Missionaries of Charity, sharing
a Eucharistic celebration with the elderly at St. Joseph’s Residence
run by the Bethlehemite sisters, and giving food to the
homeless in downtown Dallas.
Alexandra said it was a most
“edifying experience” sharing a few hours of service with other
women religious in the Church. “We shared some of their
taxing daily regimen, as well as experiencing their joy, love
and strength of character,” she said.
