October 12, 2011. Atlanta, GA. Regnum Christi’s Atlanta sections has
recently launched a local web site gathering all a host
of helpful local RC information in one place. At www.rcatlanta.org, members and friends can now “meet” the Legionaries and
consecrated members running the sections, read recent news and blog
entries, find out what activities, retreats, and missions are coming
up, make a donation, and more.
The theme
of this year’s Atlanta section is “Renewing Hearts,” with an
emphasis on a renewed commitment to holiness, communion, and service
in the formation of apostles.
Virtual tour
The RC Atlanta web site is organized into 9 major
tabs: LC/RC Team, Lay Sections, Services, Blogs, Missions, Events, News,
Donations, and Prayers.
• The LC/RC Team tab introduces each
of the individuals on the Atlanta teams of Legionaries, consecrated
women, and RC Mission Corps volunteers.
• Under Lay Sections, visitors
get an overview of the main breakdown of Regnum Christi
sections, which include the men’s, women, young men’s, young women’s,
ECYD boys’, and ECYD girls’ groups. The current section leaders
for each group are also listed.
• The Services tab presents what
exactly the Legionaries and Regnum Christi members do in the
Atlanta area to form apostles. The Programs subtab lists all
of the Regnum Christi apostolates currently active in the Atlanta
area, including men’s, women’s and pre-Cana retreats.
• Under the Blogs tab,
Legionaries and consecrated women blog about their spiritual and apostolic
experiences.
• The Missions tab offers visitors an updated listing of
this year’s missions trips, with articles, videos, and links for
further information.
• On a more particular and practical level, the
Events tab presents an adjustable calendar view of upcoming local
and national activities for all sections as well as registration
information for events.
• The News tab presents stories about recent
Atlanta section events, such as a video of a recent
State of the Section address given by Fr David Daly,
LC or a missionary trip to a Louisiana prison.
• A Donations
tab presents the Atlanta section Annual Appeal with a specific
breakdown of local and national expenses to which members can
contribute, plus offers the means to make a donation by
credit card or by check.
• Finally, the Prayers tab gives visitors
the means to submit their prayer intentions to the site,
either with their name or anonymously.
The site already has social
networking features so that visitors can read and comment on
what they read. In addition, the site will soon have
an online bookstore, bulletin board, and mobile capacity for viewing
the site through mobile devices.
A tool for local communion
For
Brent Cieply, one of the architects of the new web
page, the site is a means to help people get
connected to Regnum Christi on the local level.
“With the
power of the internet as a mass-communication tool, it was
important for us to develop a site that could take
advantage of this aspect. With rctlanta.org, we we’re able to
create a space that offers members in Atlanta a centralized
access point with information that is important to them,” said
Cieply.
“Whether it’s reading about a recent mission, registering for
a retreat, or enjoying the spiritual thoughts from a familiar
LC or consecrated in the blogs, members can stay connected
and continue to build upon the ‘family spirit’ that is
integral to Regnum Christi. At the same time, it provides
us an outlet to share with a broader audience all
of the exciting events and apostolic services occurring in the
Atlanta area,” he said.
