Twenty-five-year-old Ian sent us a testimony via email that we
wanted to share with all of you…
Vancouver, Canada -- In
light of all the controversies and challenges of recent years,
I thought you might like to hear a story of
how your (Conquest summer camps) ministry has benefited me.
When
I was a young man, I was filled with fear
due to an unstable family life. I felt I could
trust no one. Without realizing it, I didn´t even trust
God.
Fear ruled my life to this point. Even though
I wanted to be a saint and follow Christ, I
didn´t even last the week at the Legionaries Aurora Borealis
leadership camp in Saskatchewan, Canada, when I was 14.
The
following year, I was challenged (this had to be the
Holy Spirit) to be a team captain for the week.
Confronted with such a daunting task (for me) I had
no choice but to truly abandon my life and future
to God.
Through the formation and training I received in
that week and through being challenged as a leader, I
came to confront the reality of God´s action in my
life and receive the freedom of following His will, living
in the graces won for us in Christ. That week
changed my life and my parents commented months later that
I was a completely different person.
I now work as
a full-time Catholic lay missionary at the University of British
Columbia in Canada, witnessing to the faith in what could
be considered the most challenging environment in our times. I
would not have had the courage without the gift of
faith that I received through the Legionaries.
Thank you, and
God bless! I´m praying for your ministries throughout the world.
