Before concluding this celebration, I permit myself to speak to
you a few words in Italian. I would like to
know Spanish perfectly so as to be able to speak
your beautiful language. First, a word of gratitude to the
General Director of the Legionaries and the Regnum Christi Movement.
Second,
as the Pontifical Delegate for the Legionaries and for Regnum
Christi, I would like to give you a word of
encouragement and hope. My presence here manifests a word of
confidence on the part of the Holy Father. He named
his Delegate for the Legion and for Regnum Christi because
he had confidence both in the Legion and in the
Regnum Christi Movement. He named his Delegate not to destroy,
but to revitalize, discover, and renew the great energies that
exist in the Legion and in Regnum Christi.
Not to encourage
you to change your vocation, but to remain in your
vocation, be it a vocation to the religious priesthood for
the Legionaries, or one of consecration and self-giving to the
Kingdom of Christ on the part of the consecrated and
of the other members of the Movement.
The Pope has confidence.
He has confidence in the capacity of man. He has
confidence, above all, in grace. We, as Christians, can see
the future with great hope because we believe in the
goodness of God that continually renews and regenerates our hearts,
and makes us capable of doing our work in a
manner ever more great and beautiful. Grace, despite our weakness,
allows us to persevere and not be scandalized even by
sin, because the grace of the Lord is greater than
our misery, our weakness, and even our sin.
The future
belongs to the one who perseveres, who has trust, and
who continues in his vocation. Let us pray so that
all of us may persevere in our Christian vocation; for
the Legionaries that they be perseverant in their vocation, for
the consecrated souls in the Regnum Christi Movement; and for
all the faithful who commit themselves to spread, to give
their energies to make others know and love the Lord.
Thank
you for your welcome and your kindness.
