Rome, Italy -- On May 31, 2012, Fr. Alvaro
Corcuera, LC sent letters to the Legionaries of Christ in
the territories of Chile and Venezuela to inform them of
the appointment of their new territorial directors: Fr. Xavier Castro,
LC, for the territory of Chile, and Fr. Julio Martí,
LC, for the territory of Venezuela. They will replace Fr.
Jose Cardenas, LC, and Fr. Jose Manuel Otaolaurruchi, LC, respectively,
both of whom are ending the period for which they
were called to serve as territorial directors.
Fr. Xavier Castro Alvarado, LC, was born
on December 19, 1973 in Mexico City. He joined the
Legion of Christ in 1993. He made his first profession
on August 15, 1995 and perpetual vows on Oct. 5,
2001. He was ordained a priest on December 24, 2005.
He has worked in Legion seminaries as an assistant for
humanists in Salamanca (Spain), assistant for philosophers and theologians in
the center of higher studies in Rome and later as
Superior of the apostolic community of Buenos Aires, Argentina. From

2006 to 2011 he served as rector of the Center
for Higher Studies in Thornwood, New York. Since 2011 he
has been the superior for the Legionary community in Washington,
DC. Fr Xavier will be accompanied by Fr
José Cárdenas for a time to ensure a smooth transition.
Fr. Julio Cesar
Martí Acuña, LC was born on May 15, 1967 in
Caracas, Venezuela. He joined the Legion in 1991,
made his first profession on April 9, 1993 and his
perpetual vows on August 15, 1996. He was
ordained a priest on September 3, 1997. He has worked
as an assistant and as vice-rector in the community of
the headquarters of the general directorate.
