Arlington, Virginia - The Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS) welcomed 85 new and returning students for the 2012-2013 school year, the largest enrollment since the Catholic graduate school of psychology opened its doors in 1999.

The Institute welcomes the addition of two new faculty members, Assistant Professor Sr. Mary Clare Smith, S.N.D., Ph.D., and IPS alumna Su Li Lee, Psy.D.

Taking affect this fall will be important changes to the Master´s Program in Clinical Psychology (M.S.), providing master´s graduates the opportunity for greater career options in less time. The revised and compressed program is designed to be completed in two years and two summers of consecutive, full-time study, including a year-long externship.

In his remarks welcoming new and returning students, IPS President Fr. Charles Sikorsky, LC noted the tremendous advancements IPS has made since its founding. He shared with the students that he frequently hears from mental health practitioners, bishops, family life officers, and others of the urgent need for well-trained, Catholic clinicians.

"IPS graduates play a pivotal role in filling this need. Pursue your vocation to heal," said Fr. Sikorsky.
