(Romereports.com) During the Year
of Faith, the Church is asking all Catholics
to take the time to study and truly understand
the teachings of the Catholic faith. The Archbishop
of Manila, Luis Antonio Tagle, says that nowadays,
having faith is not just a matter of
religion. He says people´s lack of faith in mankind is
changing society.
MSGR. LUIS ANTONIO TAGLE Archbishop of Manila
(Philippines) “In the New Evangelization and the Year of Faith,
the Church should pay attention also to the
act of faith, but not just the content
of the faith, but how the heart of the person
could come to faith and respond to faith.
Even in ordinary human relationships, faith, trusting other
people is becoming quite difficult.”
He says the mission of the
New Evangelization and the Year of Faith are
quite similar. He adds that when people have
faith in God, it´s easier for them to have faith
in others. Overtime, this makes societies healthier and
stronger.
MSGR. LUIS ANTONIO TAGLE Archbishop of Manila (Philippines) “If
I cannot trust fellow human beings, if I
cannot trust the banks, if I cannot trust political institutions,
if I cannot trust a person, then there
will be no marriage, there will be no commitment to
the development of society. If I cannot trust
human beings, how can I believe in a
God I don´t see.”
On November 24th, Tagle will be elevated
to a Cardinal by Benedict XVI. Under
his new role, he says he will continue
to emphasize the connection between having a strong faith and
improving human relationships.
