Warwick, Rhode
Island – On November 21, consecrated women and others who
had lived and worked with Erin Bellefeuille in Rhode Island
remembered her in a memorial Mass at Overbrook Academy.
Overbrook chaplain
Fr. Edward McIlmail LC celebrated the Mass. In his homily,
he spoke of the significance of the day, which was
the feast of the Presentation of our Lady.
“Erin also presented
herself to God in a special way, and offered him
a ‘yes’ like Our Lady’s,” he said.
After the Mass, Katelyn
Moroney, who was consecrated with Erin in 2002, offered some
words of remembrance for her friend.
“Erin was a sister to
me,” she said. “We laughed together, cried together, and supported
each other in God’s path for our lives. I think
all of us remember her smile – she was full
of joy and constant self-giving to others.”
The Mass was a
beautiful celebration of Erin’s life, and a ‘thank you’ for
the lives she touched. We are all grateful to God
for the gift of Erin’s life, and lift up her
family in prayer.
Erin was consecrated in 2002. This past August,
she discerned that God was calling her to a different
path, and took a job in Mexico City. On November
14, she passed away after a brief illness.
