Antigonish, N.S., Canada - A
small town appropriately called ‘Monastery’ just outside of Antigonish, Nova
Scotia was the setting for the yearly spiritual exercises for
Regnum Christi men and friends of the Movement.
Many of the men met Regnum years
ago, when Fr Kermit Syren LC was stationed in eastern
Canada. Although Legionary priests are not present in any of
the four Maritime Provinces now, they have been preaching spiritual
exercises each year as a way of providing for the
men´s spiritual needs.
Attendees
came from Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.
This year the preacher was Fr John Luxbacher LC, rector
of the Legionary community in Cornwall, Ontario, and until recently
Instructor of the Novices there.
Among those present were four dads of Legionaries or
students at apostolic schools – an expression of the great
spirit of family that we enjoy as diverse parts of
the same Movement.
Mr.
Ray Arsenault, who organized the event and is the father
of both a Legionary priest and a consecrated woman, says
that the exercises seem to yield more and more spiritual
fruit each year.
"They just
keep on getting better!"
