38 representatives of the members of the 1st and 2nd degrees of Regnum Christi reflect on their charism and vocation

Conclusión encuentro 1 y 2 grado 2013

Today, the meeting of the representatives of the 1st and 2nd degrees of Regnum Christi concluded with a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Velasio De Paolis, Papal Delegate to Regnum Christi.

The 38 representatives, between 23 and 70 years old, hail from 14 countries.  They summarized what they lived in these days in a letter they sent to the members of Regnum Christi throughout the world:

“We feel that our experience here together has been similar to what Pentecost must have been like: the wealth of diversity, the joy of being a united

family, and the presence of the Holy Spirit that pushes us to share the love of Christ with all.”

During the meetings, they shared the reactions that the members in their various territories had to the “Principles of the Regnum Christi Charism,” confirmed the elements that are essential to the identity of the lay members of the first and second degree of the Movement, and expressed their desire for unity with the Consecrated Men and Women and the Legionaries in the body of the Movement.  Likewise, they spoke openly about the weaknesses present in the first and second degrees and those aspects that need to be changed in order to live out and present the Regnum Christi vocation the way God wants.

As well, apostolic and organizational elements came to light about which the representatives believe they need to discern more in order to discover what the Lord is asking.  All of these elements will be the basis of drafting an up-to-date Statute for the members of the 1st and 2nd degrees.  The timeframe and procedures for the revision and approval of this Statute has yet to be defined, and will depend on the decision of the Papal Delegate.

After three surveys to determine which

persons should form the commission to represent the members of the 1st and 2nd degrees in the process of drafting the General Statute of Regnum Christi, Kerrie Rivard (North America), Lucia Hauser (Germany), Francisco Gámez (Venezuela) and José Antonio Lebrija (Mexico) were chosen.  In July, they will meet again with the Pontifical Delegate and the central governments of the Consecrated Men, Consecrated Women and the Legion to determine the process for the drafting of this Statute.

In addition to their work, the representatives had opportunities to pray together with, and spend time with the Consecrated Men and Women and the Legionaries living in Rome.  They participated in the Mass of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart in the Center of Higher Studies.  As well, they prayed the Rosary in the grotto of Lourdes in the Vatican Gardens on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Members of the Movement throughout the world were praying for the success of these meetings.

In the next few days, some interviews, images and videos from the meetings will be available on our web portals.
