Father/Daughter Mission
Dads, why not celebrate Father’s Day by planning a mission trip with your daughter?

Father and Daughter

According to pediatrician Dr. Meg Meeker, “few things matter more to a girl’s mental, physical and social development than her relationship with her father.” (Dr. Meeker is the author of the book Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters.)

As Father’s Day approaches this weekend, dads and daughters might consider one way to enhance their relationship could be to participate in a mission trip designed just for them.

The Annual Father-Daughter Mission Trip to New Orleans is scheduled for October 17-20, 2013. The mission is offered for girls in first grade through high school-age and their fathers.

“This year we will focus on serving the handicapped children at St. Michael´s Special School,” said Fr. Michael Sliney LC, who will offer spiritual support during the mission along with Fr. Patrick Murphy LC. “I hope you can join us!”

The mission will include daily Mass and spiritual talks, as well as “Angel for a Day” mission activities. There will be time for some fun as well, including rides on the River Boat Natchez and the St. Charles Avenue streetcar, and visits to Jackson Square, Spanish Plaza, Audubon Park and the New Orleans River Walk.
