“I am here to meet young people coming from all over the world, drawn to the open arms of Christ the Redeemer. They want to find a refuge in his embrace, close to his heart, to listen again to his clear and powerful appeal: ‘Go and make disciples of all nations’.”

These are the words of Pope Francis during the welcoming ceremony from his arrival in Rio de Janeiro yesterday to begin World Youth Day

WYD has actually become a week of activities, having taken place in several countries worldwide since John Paul II initiated the tradition in 1986. Events in Rio this week will continue through Sunday, July 28, 2013, with closing ceremonies. To see live coverage on EWTN, click here for more information.

Some of our own Legionaries, consecrated women and Regnum Christi laity are attending the events, including Brother Antonio Lemos LC who has been blogging on Regnum Christi Live about his experiences.  Click here for his latest installment, and keep checking in for more to come.
