In a letter dated September 25th,
Fr. Gianfranco Ghirlanda, S.I., the Papal Delegate’s counselor responsible
for the consecrated men of Regnum Christi, announced that
the General Assembly for the consecrated men will be held
in Rome from November 25 to December 1, 2013.
It will be preceded by eight days of spiritual
The letter indicates that the General Assembly is
the ultimate decision making body of the consecrated men.
The mission of the General Assembly will be to
approve the essential texts (the Statutes and the Rule),
which, in the case of the consecrated men of Regnum
Christi, is a particularly important moment in their history.
In the Assembly the new general government (General Director,
General Council and General Administrator) will also be elected.
Following the General Assembly for the consecrated men will
be the Assembly for the consecrated women of Regnum
Christi in December and the General Chapter for the Legion
of Christ in January. These will be the last steps
for Regnum Christi and the Legion of Christ in
this process of revision and renewal under the guidance
of the Pontifical Delegate Cardinal Velasio De Paolis, C.S.
total of 24 consecrated men will participate in their General
Assembly. Of the 24 members, 8 of them will
attend due to the office they hold, and 16 members
will be elected to represent all the consecrated members
from around the world.
Fr. Ghilanda’s letter concludes
by asking that prayers be intensified so that Our
Lord might bless both the process of the General Assembly
as well as the fruits that will be produced
by these encounters for the good not only of Regnum
Christi, but also for the entire Church.
