Regnum Christi member Lynn Pinugu has received a national award in the Philippines for her work at Mano Amiga Academy.

Lynn received the TOWNS award for social enterprise and education.  The TOWNS Foundation Inc. is a national organization of women whose work helps to transform the lives of Filipinos. TOWNS awards are given every three years, following a year-long nationwide search.  Lynn is among the 149 women who have been recognized with the award thus far.

Lynn is the founder of Mano Amiga Academy, a non-profit school that aims to uplift the lives of underprivileged Filipino families through education. To ensure the sustainability of Mano Amiga, Lynn had the Bistro 3846 “high-end cafeteria” constructed.  Bistro 3846 donates 100% of its profits to Mano Amigo, as well as providing training and employment to the local community.

Lynn, who has also served as a missionary to Mexico, was also named a “Global Shaper” by the World Economic Forum in 2012, and was recipient of the Social Entrepreneurship Star Award at the 2012 Asian Social Enterprise Summit in Korea.

Congratulations Lynn!
