Are you being called to something more?

This is the provocative question asked to those who visit the new vocations website from the Legion of Christ, www.legionvocation.org.

According to Fr. Daren Weisbrod LC, National Vocation Director for the Legion of Christ, Sunday, May 11 is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Incidentally, the date is also Mother’s Day.

“The Church and the Legion of Christ are asking the members of our movement to honor our Blessed Mother this Mother’s Day by requesting her intercession that God will send more laborers into

the vineyard,” he said.

The Legion is also making a new prayer card available to help promote priestly vocations. Click here to see it.

“The prayer card is an invitation to all families to pray and sacrifice for vocations,” said Fr. Daren. “We ask all families to gather in prayer for vocations every Friday to commemorate the day of the Sacred Heart, the one who inspires all hearts to come and follow Him.”

“Please spread the word throughout your localities!” he said.

“Prayer for vocations is a way that everyone can join together to ask God to grant many holy priests and consecrated men and women for the Church," said Michelle Reiff, National Vocation Director for the Regnum Christi consecrated women. "It is very powerful - since March we have been praying a prayer for vocations every day in our formation center in Greenville, Rhode Island, and the number of inquiries about our vocation has increased dramatically.

The Legion of Christ has developed two new brochures with information about their apostolic schools in the United States and the Novitiate in Cheshire, Connecticut.  Fr. Daren said the brochures were put together with the help of around 20 Legionaries “who had in mind the clear transmission of our identity and life.”

“They are inspired by the results of our recent general chapter, and we believe they are not just paper brochures, but an expression of who

we are and where we are going,” he said.

The Legion also has produced eye-catching posters promoting vocations in various languages, including English.  These include images for vocations to the consecrated life, as well as for priestly vocations.  Go to the following link to see the options:

will be offering a week-long “Come and See’ experience in June, said Michelle. "I especially ask for your prayers for the young women God may be calling to participate in it.”
