| Hombre Nuevo distributed food, clothing and toys to the poor. | |

January 15th Hombre Nuevo, a Spanish-language mass media apostolate with
headquarters in Los Angeles, California, organized a special mission of
charity by gathering food, clothing, toys and other supplies and
taking them personally to the poorest areas of Tijuana, Mexico.
Legionary of Christ Father Salvador Fernandez, LC, directed the
effort.
This marks the tenth consecutive year Hombre Nuevo
organized the project entitled Pequeño Jesús (Little Jesus) by inviting
its radio listeners to imitate the three kings who brought
Jesus gifts at the Epiphany.
The generosity and response this
year was very encouraging as the number of participants doubled
from last year. It was quite a sight: 191 cars,
trucks and vans lined up to make the trip from
LA to Tijuana with 7,500 toys and over 600 boxes
of supplies and clothing for the poor in twenty different
villages.
The recipients were moved by the generosity and charity

that the missionaries shared with them. Not only did they
bring material gifts, but in many cases their smiles, words
of encouragement and sheer testimony were the presents they appreciated
the most. However, those who received the most of this
mission were the missionaries themselves, bringing the Gospel to life:
"Truly I tell you, just as you did it to
one of the least of these who are members of
my family, you did it to me" (Matthew 25: 40).
