Students from Pinecrest Academy's high school

The Cardinal Newman Society has released its bi-annual list of the top 50 schools on its National Catholic High School Honor Roll.  All three of the high schools that use the Legion of Christ education curriculum of Integral Formation were named on the list. The schools include:

• Everest Collegiate High School, Clarkston, Michigan

• The Highlands School, Irving, Texas

• Pinecrest Academy, Cumming, Georgia

The Catholic High School Honor Roll was created by The Acton Institute in 2004.  The Cardinal Newman Society assumed the program this year, saying in a press release that this was part of the society’s “mission of helping Catholic families and promoting faithful Catholic education.”

The press release also said the Honor Roll “serves as a resource for parents, colleges, and all those who work in support of solid Catholic education.”

The list is released every two years, recognizing Catholic high schools in terms of academic excellence, Catholic identity, and civic education.  Click here to see the entire Top 50 list.

“Since competition began in 2004, the Honor Roll has been a helpful tool for administrators, families, and benefactors in recognizing the quality of a Catholic high school,” said Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society. “The Honor Roll schools are a reminder that Catholic education is getting better every day—not only academically, but in the renewal of Catholic identity—and we are delighted to see the increased level of competition among the schools that participated in the program this year.”
