Thy Kingdom Come!
REGNUM CHRISTI
MOVEMENT
GENERAL DIRECTOR
Mexico City, May

Solemnity of Pentecost
To the members of Regnum
Christi youth sections
My dear Friends in Christ,
Since we are
celebrating the solemnity of Pentecost today, I wanted to write
you a few words and let you know that I
am praying for you, that the Holy Spirit’s strength will
fill your hearts and ignite them with the fire of
his love.
Today’s Gospel speaks to us about Christ appearing to
the apostles the day he rose from the dead. Even
though they had shut themselves behind locked doors for fear
of the Jews, he comes and shows them the signs
of his Passion and sends them on the great mission
of conquering the world for the cause of the Kingdom:
“As the Father has sent me, so I send you”
(Jn 20:21). The same Spirit descends on them on Pentecost
day and confirms them in the mission Christ had given
them.
Based on Christ’s invitation for us to spread his Kingdom
to the ends of the earth, I am writing to
encourage you to participate in the various national and international
conventions this summer, especially the ones in Sydney, with the
World Youth Day as their focus, and the formators’ conventions
in Rome in July. As many of you already know
from expe-rience, it is in these activities that you live
most strongly the mystique of the Movement and the unity
that bonds all members together, as you strive side by
side scattered throughout the world to love Christ and spread
his Kingdom.
These international conventions are an outstanding opportunity to deepen
your love for Christ, grow in your formation, and enrich
yourselves with the experiences of youth from other parts of
the world in a family atmosphere, full of apostolic zeal.
We can even compare them to a miniature Pentecost: the
combination of spiritual, academic, recreational and cultural dimensions, as well
as contact with leaders of the Catholic world, makes these
conventions a true experience of what it means to be
an apostle of the New Evangelization.
I want to remind you
that nothing can make up for personal forma-tion. Enthusiasm won’t
do it, and neither will fervor nor the desire to
be generous. To be effective in your mission depends, at
least in part, on the level of personal formation you
have reached. If there are Regnum Christi members who love
Christ and are generous and well-formed, then we can be
sure that the Movement will bring forth the fruits everyone
is hoping for. God is calling us more than ever
before to be a Movement of holy apostles! I can
assure you that it will be an experience that marks
the rest of your lives.
So I encourage you to talk
to your team leaders, so they can present to you
the options for this summer and you can see what
works best. Other than that, I invite you to let
the Holy Spirit keep working in your lives, so that
he may fill your souls with his gifts.
During this month
of May I am especially asking the Blessed Virgin Mary
to bless you and lead you by the hand along
the path of holiness that Christ is calling you to.
Sincerely yours in Christ and the Movement,
Alvaro Corcuera,
