U.S.A., June 13, 2006. On Saturday, June 3 on the
eve of the solemnity of Pentecost, His Eminence Paul-André Durocher,
Bishop of the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall, ordained Timothy Walsh, L.C.
to the diaconate. The ceremony took place in Saint Andrew’s,
the parish that Deacon Timothy belonged to before entering the
Legion of Christ.
The concelebrants for the ordination mass included
Fr. Joseph Burtka, Director of the Legionaries’ New York Territory
(which includes eastern Canada and most of the U.S. east
coast), various Legionary priests, and fourteen priests from the diocese,
accompanied by a deacon from the same diocese. Also present
were family, friends, the Legionary community of the Cornwall novitiate,
and Legionaries from the formation centers in Cheshire, Conn., and
Thornwood, N.Y.
At the end of the ceremony, His Bishop Durocher
gave thanks for the presence of the Legion of Christ
and Regnum Christi in the diocese, especially highlighting the “apostolate
of prayer” carried out by the novices.
