Greenville, Rhode Island
– Members of the local media, fire fighters, police, residents
and the Regnum Christi community at Mater Ecclesiae College gathered
last night in Greenville, Rhode Island to remember the young
Guatemalan girl killed last week in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
Daniela Heredia, age 12,
died in a tragic accident when a car veered off
the road and struck her while she was walking with
a group of girls who were in town to attend
the New England Regional ECyD convention at the college. The group was on a shopping outing in Smithfield
when the accident happened.
During an interview with WPRI Channel 12 television
news, Regnum Christi consecrated woman Rene Pomarico said, “There is
meaning to everything and God can bring good out of
every situation no matter how difficult, how painful, how tragic. And I think faith is what makes the
difference.” To see the news report, click here.

girls attending the convention purchased a memorial wreath in honor
of Heredia and will be placing it at the site
