Atlanta, Georgia – More than 250 members, priests and friends of the Regnum Christi movement, including consecrated women, and lay people gathered on September 9, 2012, to remember the past year and be inspired to renew their faith for 2013. The annual State of the Movement meeting, held at the Holy Spirit Church in Atlanta, recognized the 20th Anniversary of the movement in the Atlanta area.

“I have come to realize that God has not called us to do great things, but to do the impossible,” said RC team leader Thomas Tropea.  “For when we do great things we take the credit, but when we do the impossible, it is only because of Him, and He gets all the Glory.”

Fr. David Daly, local coordinator of Apostolate in Atlanta, gave the keynote address for the evening, focusing on the renewal of the Legion, the Regnum Christi consecrated and the movement as a whole.  He described “renewal” as “letting the Holy Spirit purify our hearts and help us to love more like Jesus.”

Quoting St. Augustine, he said “the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church is slow, often imperceptible, but without interruption.”  He mentioned that this year’s theme of “Renewing Hearts in

Faith” follows the declaration of Pope Benedict XVI who “summons us to an authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord.”

While reflecting on the New Evangelization, Fr. Daly spoke of the charism everyone has received to both serve and to encourage apostles.  He mentioned how the Holy Spirit is working within the movement, and that there has been growth worldwide, with over 75 priests ordained and over 300 novices entering the seminaries during the last three years.  Six Legionaries of Christ from Atlanta will be ordained in Rome in December.

Festivities did not end with Father’s speech.  All local members of the RC leadership and team leaders, missionaries and the young men and women of the movement were recognized with applause, and the evening came to a close with clapping, singing and beautiful music.
