Today, for
faith to grow, we must lead ourselves and the persons
we meet…into contact with The Beautiful…Nothing can bring us into
close contact with the beauty of Christ himself other than
the world of beauty created by faith and light that
shines out from the faces of the saints, through whom
his own light becomes visible. - Benedict XVI, August 31, 2011
Inspired by the vision of Pope Benedict XVI, Regnum
Christi has chosen the theme for the upcoming National Catholic
Women’s Convention to be "Finding God in Truth and Beauty."
Set for April 18-21, 2013
at Mater Ecclesiae College in Greenville, Rhode Island, this convention
is open to all Catholic women, members of Regnum Christi
and others who are interested in attending.
“A year ago, when the convention team began
praying about and planning for the theme of this year’s
convention, we were inspired with the vision of Benedict XVI
in what he calls the ‘via pulchritudinis’ – the way
of beauty,” said Kerrie Rivard, National Director of Regnum Christi
Support. “We didn’t realize then that we would
be looking at Benedict XVI’s legacy as we cross a
new threshold with a newly elected successor of Peter accepting
the keys of the Church in the weeks preceding the
convention. We are honored and excited to be
able to dive together into this gift our Holy Father
has left with us at this special time.”
Rivard said those who attend the convention
“will explore the ways God reaches out to his people,
and the way we have sought him through the centuries
and contemporarily through the arts, the liturgy, philosophy, human relationship,
and prayer.”
“We’ll enjoy the
company and share prayer with other Catholic women from around
North America and with the consecrated women of Regnum Christi
who study at Mater Ecclesiae College. We will also have
priests of the Legionaries of Christ speaking to us and
making available the sacraments and spiritual direction.”
Featured speakers at the conference will include Fr.
Roger Landry, an expert on the thought of Pope John
Paul II, the Theology of the Body, apologetics, and on
contemporary issues in the Church; Fr. Evaristo Sada LC, who
currently leads a new initiative to support the prayer life
and holiness of Legionaries and Regnum Christi members; and Dr.
Joan Kingsland, who teaches theology at Mater Ecclesiae College in
Rhode Island.
Workshops for RC
lay section directors, section assistants, group Leaders and team leaders
will be held April 17-18, just prior to the convention. For more information and registration information, click here for the program brochure.
