For the third year in a row,
leaders from youth organizations throughout the Church gathered for prayer
and ongoing formation in a two-day event called Cor Unum
(meaning “one heart.”) The gathering, held at the
start of the Lenten season 2013 at the Carmel Retreat
Center in Hoschton, Georgia, focuses on building communion and forming
true apostles of the new Evangelization.
Fr. Martin Connor
LC gave the keynote address at the event, titled “Reclaiming
the Fullness of Love,” based on the teachings of now Pope
emeritus, Benedict XVI.
“It’s important that we come together for
ongoing formation in the faith to help and support each
other to fulfill our specific missions within this New Evangelization,”
said Fr. Martin.
Leaders in attendance represented Catholic groups
such as Life Teen, the Knights of Columbus,
Christ in the City, the Theology of the
Body Institute, Focus missionaries, and Regnum Christi.
is difficult to imagine anything quite as fruitful for building
unity across apostolates and movements in the Church in such
a natural, beautiful way,” said Jimmy Mitchell, who attended the
event. Mitchell is the founder of a new
record Company called Mysterium, based in Nashville, Tenn.
next Cor Unum will take place on March 3-4, 2014
at the same location as the 2013 event.
