Father/Son Campout
Eighty three boys and their dads gather for campout hosted by Conquest and SportsLeader

Father and son campout

Fathers and sons celebrated the 2013 weekend of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) with a campout event at Camp River Ridge near Oldenburg, Indiana.

Eighty-three fathers and sons gathered from Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky on June 1-2, 2013, for activities like fishing, hiking and making s’mores around the bonfire. Campers enjoyed organized sports like father/son football, dodgeball and archery, mixed in with spiritual talks on virtue, Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and confession. The culmination of the event was a Corpus Christi Eucharistic procession on the feast day.

The event, sponsored Conquest and SportsLeader, is held twice a year in the spring and fall.

"This was the largest group we’ve had since the 2009 campout," said Fr. Daniel Brandenburg LC, one of the priests who offered spiritual support during the campout. "Mark your calendars for the next father/son campout on September 7-8, 2013."
