Each July, seminarians at the Cheshire, Connecticut seminary spend
the month working on urgent maintenance projects around the house.
Last year’s projects included a massive tiling of the foyer,
remodel of the small dining room and building a new
retaining wall leading to the main entrance of the seminary.

Following their finals this month, the seminarians will
begin their “Month of Work.” They will be undertaking such
projects as renovating the chapel, the auditorium and stripping the
gym floor as well as other maintenance projects that help
keep the Cheshire seminary looking great.
Some of the
2013 projects and their estimated costs include:
- Put in new
front walkways $7,000
- Resurfacing driveway $5,000
- Replace chapel doors $5,000
- Repair courtyard doors $3,000
- Install fountain in courtyard $2,500
install drop-ceiling and create garden $2,000
- Install handicap ramp $2,000
- Lay tile in chapel oratories $1,000
- Re-varnish gym floor, $1,000
- Paint: hallways, rooms, exterior doors $500

and the talent to undertake these projects, but they need
a little ‘treasure’ to buy the materials needed!” said Mike
