June 21, 2013, not only marked the first day of summer, but renewed the call of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for a Fortnight for Freedom.  (Click on here for more information.)

Fr. Nathaniel Haslam LC, currently serving in the Houston, Texas, area, gave a homily June 23, 2013 -- the 12th Sunday of Ordinary Time -- to begin this year’s Fortnight.  Reminiscent of the speech given by Martin Luther King, he called his homily “I Have a Dream.”

He summarized his words, saying, “In this Fortnight for Freedom, Jesus Christ reminds us that He also has a dream for our lives. His dream is one of embracing the cross and giving His life for us. This dream is fulfilled when we live the Mass and offer Him our pains, sufferings, disappointments and weaknesses, in union with the re-presentation of his one sacrifice on the cross.”
