Having Fun with the Faith
Camp Kilimanjaro summer camp for boys at Everest Academy in Clarkston, Michigan has openings for August 1-8, 2013

Camp Kilimanjaro

Clarkston, Michigan -- It’s not too late to make plans for camp this summer.  Camp Kilimanjaro for boys takes place for a second week this year at Everest Academy in Clarkston, Michigan, from August 1-8, 2013.

The first Camp Kilimanjaro was held from June 10-17, 2013 at Everest, and was a great success, according to Fr. Thomas Flynn LC, chaplain during the camp.

“We had daily Mass, confessions, daily meditations, recitation of the rosary and formative talks, and Eucharistic adoration one night where each boy spent ten minutes alone with Christ,” he said. “Thanks to Br. Adam Zettel LC and Br. Joshua Thompson LC, I think the kids had a week they will never forget.”

About 23 boys participated in the week-long camp, including activities like a survival day, a scavenger hunt, sports tournament, and creative challenges such as building a hut and making a map of the camp property.  Campers also went off-site to visit the sand dunes on Lake Michigan, Sacred Heart Apostolic School in Rolling Prairie,

Indiana, and they also performed a man-on-the-street faith survey in Rochester, Michigan.

“In groups of five, with one adult per group, the boys go through the streets with a questionnaire asking people about their faith,” said Br. Joshua.
