|Parent Appreciation Dinner in the Ohio Valley.|
A special event of fellowship and family took place for members of
the Legionary and Regnum Christi consecrated communities who live in the greater
Cincinnati and Ohio Valley area this month. On December 8,
2013, their parents were invited to the first annual "Parent Appreciation
Dinner" held at the home of Tom and Patty Steele.
The successful inaugural event is expected to be the first
of many to come.
Braving the falling snow, more than forty
people attended. Reunions were warm and heartfelt as old friends
met and exchanged stories. A frequent comment made throughout the
evening was, "It is so good to be together!" After
a social hour of wine and appetizers, Fr. Daniel Brandenburg,
LC, gave a warm welcome and, on behalf of the
Legionary and consecrated communities, expressed sincere gratitude for the families´
After the blessing of the food and a delicious
dinner and dessert, Fr. Daniel revealed a surprise slideshow with
pictures of each consecrated and Legionary originating from the Ohio
Valley. To add a personal touch, those Legionaries and consecrated
whose parents who were able to attend had been asked
to write a message for the family, which was read
aloud amidst laughter and applause.
Then the consecrated women serenaded
the families, while the Legionaries presented each parent with a
Christmas gift, including home-made "Gingerbread Legionaries" complete with a collar,
and "Gingerbread Consecrated" with skirt and hairstyle.
