Faith of the Fatherless
IPS professor discusses the psychology of atheism in new book

Faith of the Fatherless

Why is it harder for some people to believe?  This is the question addressed in the new book from Ignatius Press, “Faith of the Fatherless: The Psychology of Atheism.”

The book’s author, Dr. Paul Vitz, is a professor at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences.   Looking at the lives and families of a large sampling of well known non-believers, Dr. Vitz explores the connection between radical atheism and absent or abusive fathers.

A promotional vidoe about the book states, “Dr Paul Vitz shatters the myth that atheism is a rational construction about the world and shows how social-psychological issues are more influential components of modern atheism.”
