One of the most recent developments at the Magdala Center in the Holy Land -- the installment of Venetian mosaics  -- has been completed.  These beautiful new images now adorn the four side chapels in the center’s Church, located on the Sea of Galilee.

Another development has been the construction of eight columns in the atrium area, which include the names of women mentioned in Scripture who followed Jesus closely during his ministry.

Fr. Juan Solana LC, director of the Notre Dame of Jerusalem Pontifical Institute, which oversees the Magdala Center project, described the mosaics as “windows to help the pilgrim contemplate the life of Jesus.”  He also said the center and its attractions are a “homeland for Christian women in the Holy land.”

The photo gallery above provides a glimpse into the creation process, the completed mosaics and columns, as well the Biblical tales they tell.  For more information on the Magdala Center and its progress, go to http://www.magdalacenter.com/.
