The Holy Father, Pope Francis, visited the Notre Dame of
Jerusalem Center today where he blessed the tabernacle that will
go in the "Duc in Altum" Church of the Magdala Center.
One hundred and twenty guests, friends and benefactors who
have made the construction of the Magdala Center possible were
present at the blessing. Fr. Eduardo Robles-Gil LC, general director of
the Legionaries of Christ who are in charge of the
Magdala project, was also present.
Before arriving to the Our Lady
of Peace chapel, Fr. Juan Solana LC showed the Holy Father
a few photographs and images of the Magdala Center project
being built on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. In
addition to the Duc in Altum Church, the center includes a hotel
for pilgrims and an archaeological park.
Fr. Juan said, “When
I showed him the photos of the Church, I told
the Holy Father that the “Duc in Altum” Church is
being built to honor Mary Magdalene and the other women
in the Gospel.” The Pope responded: “What would the Church
be without women?”
