November 9, 2009. A pilgrimage to the Holy Land is
a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, especially when it is a spiritual and
cultural experience that brings the Gospel to life in 3-D.
This
year, the Legion of Christ is offering a special 8-day pilgrimage to the most important holy sites of
Christ’s birth, life, and passion. The trip begins in Galilee,
with visits to Cana, Nazareth, Mt Tabor, Capernaum, Caesarea, and
more.
Next, the pilgrimage will take you to Bethlehem, where the
story of Christ’s birth becomes vividly real in the Shepherd’s
Field and the Grotto of the Nativity, as well as
the nearby village of Ein-Karem, where St John the Baptist
was born and Mary spoke her Magnificat.
The next few days
will be spent in Jerusalem, retracing the steps of Christ
during his passion, from the Upper Room of the Last
Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane, the place of the

judgment and of the scourging, the Way of the Cross
through Jerusalem’s city streets, and the Church of the Holy
Sepulcher, where pilgrims can actually touch the rock of Calvary.
And
finally, the pilgrimage will end in the more austere desert
lands of Bethany, Jericho, the Mount of Temptations, and the
Dead Sea.
The total expense for the pilgrimage is $1,720 for
a double-occupancy room, and $2,120 for a single-occupancy room. This
price includes all accommodations and meals, transportation in deluxe buses,
an English-speaking guide, all entrance fees, and tips for the
guide, bus driver, and hotel staff. The flight is not
included in the cost.
